Bridging Twins

Bridging Twins is based on the character “Yoyo,” a mentor and a leader, characterized by the upright stance with the supporting arm. Given his mentoring trait, the arm acts as a bridge between the two characters, evidenced in the form of the building. These forms translate into two programmatic uses which consist of public theaters and private production offices. These separate entities are bridged by two connecting bridges on top and bottom, which not only act as circulation spaces, but also as shared areas where the employees and the public audience interact.

Having two tower arrangements allows for multiple facades that can be enjoyed by the people outside as well as inside. Therefore, the skin starts to play an important role as it starts to act as a barrier between what is public and private. The perforations in the skin start to hint at the activities inside the building, as coded by the colors: 1) green for circulation space 2) magenta lights poking through the theaters. Such hints of colors start to add onto the façades, for the public to observe, similar to how the occupants inside
observe the busy streets of New York.
